the-accidental-transcendental: One of the rarest skywatching events that can ever be seen will occur on June 5 and 6 this year, when the planet Venus will cross the face of the sun, as seen from Earth, in what scientists call a transit. The Venus transit of 2012 is the second of two in recent years (the last one occured in 2004), but is the last event of its kind until 2117!
